“Success in Science – with children”

is the prime concern of the Equal Opportunities Officer of the Universität Hohenheim Prof. Dr. BodeMackenstedt. In order to achieve this, the Office for Equal Opportunities at the University of Hohenheim has set up a range of institutions which women and men who study and/or work in academia in Hohenheim and have children can turn to.

If you study or work at the University, the "Children's Fire Brigade" (child supervision for special situations from infancy) offers you the chances to request a child carer. “Special situations” includes, for example, if your regular child carer is unable to look after your child and this would result in you being unable to pursue your studies or carry out your work. Another situation might be if special work or study-related obligations give rise to the need for extra childcare services.

The “Hohenheim Campus Holidays” offer holiday supervision for schoolchildren and their younger brothers and sisters. It provides relief for parents who work or study at the University and also fosters the principle of introducing children to their parents’ workplace and helping them to understand what their parents do. It first took place for two weeks in the summer semester of 1999.
