The Equal Opportunities Officer for the University of Hohenheim, the scientist Prof. Dr. Mackenstedt, was appointed by the Senate. Her position is honorary and is carried out as part of the University’s academic self-administration program as a supplement to her activities as a scientist. As Equal Opportunities Officer, she is supported by deputy, a representative and the office for Equal Opportunities.

The rights, duties and tasks of the Equal Opportunities Officer are stipulated by University Law. The Equal Opportunities Officer is directly involved in enforcing the right to equal opportunities for women and men as guaranteed under the Federal Constitution. This includes, for example, developing and implementing action plans for equal opportunities. The Equal Opportunities Officer is also involved in eradicating existing inequalities for women in academia - students, academic and scientific staff - at the University. Additionally, she is your contact person for sexual harassment at the University of Hohenheim. Her activities are subject to the strictest confidentiality. The Equal Opportunities Officer reports directly to the Board and has a direct right to recitation. At the University of Hohenheim, the Equal Opportunities Officer is the head of the Equal Opportunities Commision, which supports and advises her in her work. 

In addition to these general tasks, the Equal Opportunities Officer for the University of Hohenheim can choose to focus her work on specific activities. For Prof. Dr. Mackenstedt this means above all promoting the compatibility of family and career in academia, regardless of whether you are female or male. In order to improve the work-life balance of having a family and studying or working in academia, she has founded the facility "Child Supervision for Special Circumstances" and set up a baby-changing and breast-feeding room on the campus.
